2009 Awards
Post Season Awards roll in for Pope’s record breaking team
Pope faspitch is proud to announce that another milestone
has been reached for the record breaking 2009 team. The 2009
Lady Greyhounds team has garnered a record breaking
8 post season awards!
Pope fastpitch is
proud to announce
that two Lady Greyhounds
have been selected
to represent Pope
on the Region 6-AAAAA
all region team
and eight Lady Greyhounds
have been selected
to represent Pope
on the Marietta
Daily Journal All-county
team!
The all-county team
is made up of athletes
from each school
in the county. The
majority of the
athletes are from
Region 5-AAAAA and
6-AAAAA but can
also be selected
from private schools
located throughout
the county. The
All region team
is made up of representatives
from each of the
schools in region
6-AAAAA which differs
slightly from the
athletes on the
all county team
because region 6-AAAAA
is made up of both
Cobb County and
Fulton county schools.
Sophomore Rachel
Dennis and junior
Claire White earned
all region honors
this season as well
as All county honors.
Rachel was named
2nd team all county
while Claire was
an all-county honorable
mention selection.
For the season,
Rachel led the team
with a .396 batting
average and a .475
on base percentage.
Rachel also stole
16 bases for the
season placing her
in the top 5 base
stealers in the
county. Claire hit
.338 for the season
and led the team
in stolen bases
with 18 which places
her in the top 4
in the county in
that statistical
category.
Six other lady hounds all earned Marietta Daily Journal All-county honorable mention honors:
- Sarah Ernst (Senior) -- Sarah made her greatest impact in the circle this season for Pope posting a 5-3 record and a 1.08 ERA. Sarah struck out 64 while walking only 11.
- Christie Flick (Junior) -- Christie was a dual threat athlete this season for Pope excelling both in the circle and at the plate. In the circle Christie posted a 6-2 record with a 1.74 ERA while striking out 36 and only walking 6.
- Kendall Hahn (Sophomore) -- Kendall anchored the Hound defense from the shortstop position all season. Kendall played superb defense all season to go along with her .298 batting average.
- Natalie Lampert (Junior) -- Natalie hit a solid .321 for the Hounds this season and leading the team in 2bs, 3bs, and RBI’s. Natalie also posted an impressive .500 slugging percentage which led the team.
- Alex Lewis (Junior) -- Alex posted a solid .324 batting average and .405 slugging percentage this season as well as contributed solid defense and leadership behind the plate for the Hounds.
- Chelsea Pursley (Junior) -- Chelsea hit a solid .343 for the Hounds this season while adding 11 runs for the team.
Pope was the most represented school on the All-County list this season edging out Kennesaw Mountain who had 7 representatives.
2008
- Sophmore Natalie Lampert -- Natalie made the All region player and All-County player
